How I Plan for a Themed Advent Calendar Part 1(Frozen)!

So Christmas of 2018, I watched a Netflix movie called The Holiday Calendar starring Quincy Brown and Kat Graham and immediately became obsessed with the idea of doing one for my family. After my mom watched it, she was convinced that my daughter Bailey needed a Frozen theme advent so I found a small wood one for the rest of the family. Last year I decided to make the calendars based off of the theme ELF (starring Will Ferrell). This year I am doing 2 different themes. The family theme will be Christmas Vacation and Bailey's theme for the calendar will be Frozen per her request!

Christmas Vacation & Frozen 2
After I figure out my themes, I usually will write down anything I can think of revolving around the theme. Because Frozen 2 just came out and is all over the place, I know this will be an easy theme to map out. We will re-use the calendar that my mom got her last year pictured below. This one can be found on Amazon but I know she got it from Walmart for way cheaper last year.

Because we also do Elf on a Shelf, I try to find ways to incorporate both. Kind of my way of killing two birds with one stone. So keeping that in mind, I start thinking about parts of the movie, quotes, and winter activities that I can incorporate. I jot each idea down on lined paper and count how many I came up with. I then fill in the remaining number of days with treats.
After putting all the days in order, I look for any supplies I may need and I go to my favorite places like Target and the Dollar Tree. I start collecting all the items and hiding them from Bailey so she can be surprised. I then type and cut out each idea for the days so I can put them in the calendar.
Once the countdown starts, I usually wait until Bailey falls asleep for the night and then I set up the calendar for the next day and I put her elf Chloe in position. As much as my husband thinks I'm crazy, he ends up getting into the elf surprises as much as I do. Last year he helped me orchestrate a few surprises (Chloe was kidnapped by Jack Sparrow and we had to find the lost treasure to turn her back into an elf). This all can be a lot of work but to see how Bailey reacts to everything is worth it!
To make it easier for you, I am making a downloadable pdf for the Frozen Advent Calendar ideas. It includes a list of 30 ideas, a supply list, and each activity with descriptions and some printables that go with the activities!

Due to time, I was not able to do the Christmas Vacation one for this post but I will do my best to roll one out before December 1st as a part 2. Also I will upload an ELF on the Shelf idea list onto the file share page for the brave souls who participate!
Stay tuned for part 2 (Christmas Vacation)!
With Love,
Micole Elise
