It started with a chat over the fence! My awesome neighbor Karen invited me to a jewelry party at a yoga studio up the street...and then we invited our other awesome neighbor Abbey...and then we decided to team up so that 3 different women with 3 different backgrounds could come together for a great cause and encourage other women to help support women.
We went out of curiosity, support, and to get a break from home life. We left with beautiful artisan jewelry, a new found friendship, and with information on how to host our own party! Why did we make this seemingly rash decision in a matter of 2 hours? Keep reading to find out!
Who?
Three college friends ( Kara, Angela, & Lindsay) who traveled the world together and continuously asked "what more can we do?" to improve the conditions they witnessed. If they realized anything, it was that empowering women significantly impacted the communities in positive ways. "When women earn an income and discover their voice, they educate their children, improve their homes, and advocate for their rights. The result? The entire community thrives." So the dynamic trio set out to partner with artisans around the world to create a growing market for their handmade goods. From this, Treads Worldwide was born!

What?
Threads Worldwide is an organization that partners artisans around the world with Fair Trade Partners in the United States to create a growing market for handmade goods. Threads invites women in the U.S. to launch their own social impact business where they can work with ambassadors who host Showcases in order to tell the stories of the artisans and help them raise money to get out of poverty. These Showcases help bring women of diverse backgrounds together and inspire them to want to help women around the world succeed. Each country helps create a themed collection of handmade pieces utilizing local resources. The profits from the jewelry help women in each country make life-changing decisions that allow their families and communities to thrive.

Threads Worldwide Mission:
We create life-changing work with women around the world through the fair trade of artisan jewelry.

Where?
Threads is a woman based company, which I absolutely love! The Fair Trade Partners are U.S. based and the Artisan Partners are worldwide. Each Artisan in each Country is facing difficult living situations like no education for their children, being taken for sex trafficking, and having to beg for food on the streets. Making jewelry with Threads helps these women make money to send their kids to school, buy them clothes and food, and keeps them off the streets.
"Each piece of Threads jewelry tells a unique story of the woman who made it."
Information on each country can be found on the Threads Worldwide Website HERE
The WHY (finally)
During the showcase, our ambassador shared stories with us about each jewelry piece. We learned about the country it came from, the conditions the women suffer from, and how they make the jewelry. The jewelry is gorgeous and the fact that it is handmade makes it so much more special. I purchased the Takat Bracelet from India and I wear it as a reminder that there are other women in the world working hard to provide for their families and give them a better life. The same things I am working towards. It's a sense of feeling connected like a sisterhood and it creates a lasting memory. Just like how Karen and I urged Abbey to purchase a necklace that was perfect for her new special dress. We pushed our positive thoughts and hopes for Abbey into the necklace for good luck! Now every time we see her wear the necklace we will remember that we played a part in her decision to empower herself with it! And that is why we decided to host our own Threads party. We get to meet new women, shop, and feel good about the profits helping women abroad!
"In a world where over one billion people — that’s 1 in 7 people! — live on less than $1 each day, it becomes clear what a difference fair wages can make for people, families and communities. Fair trade promotes fair wages, healthy working conditions, and a sustainable environment for both workers and the planet."
Three Reasons why you should get involved:
1. Become an entrepreneur and make an impact by supporting sisters
2. Sell and earn unique artisan jewelry pieces while meeting new women
3. Win trips to meet artisan partners around the world

If Threads Worldwide is something that resonates with your values and you want to do something that makes a difference, I encourage you to visit the website. If you are unsure about becoming an ambassador, then try hosting a showcase first. If you simply want to attend a showcase to see the dynamics, then you can still find a local ambassador and ask about attending a showcase they have coming up. If you are local to the Denver area...then you are in luck! Send me an email or comment below and I will connect you to our Showcase ambassador or maybe you can attend ours this November!
FYI, I am not an ambassador for Threads. I just love the jewelry and the causes it supports! There are plenty of other similar organizations to get involved with. This is the time of the year for giving back so please get involved! Even if it's buying your mom or sister earrings or friendship bracelets!
Happy shopping loves!
