Finding Courage in Imperfect Courage

I can not begin to explain how I even stumbled upon this book. Before I ordered the book I had never even heard of Jessica Honegger. It was like the Universe slid this book into my e-mail and I gladly accepted. I downloaded the free 30-day workbook and anxiously waited for my book.

Imperfect Courage by Jessica Honegger

Once it came, I made sure to dedicate time each day to reading this book and I am so glad that I did. I couldn't put it down because I found her story and journey so interesting. It all starts with Jessica taking her family heirlooms to a pawn shop to get money to start her business. She was selling artisan-made jewelry out of her house so that her and her husband could fund the adoption of her son Jack from Rwanda. She also talks about how she asked her friend Jalia in Africa for more jewelry to sell and how that decision led to one of the fastest-growing fair-trade companies. Today, Noonday not only positively impacts American women as brand ambassadors, but also fair-trade artisans in multiple countries. The stories Jessica tells about each woman is transformative and inspiring. I feel like I know these women and I felt apart of the sisterhood that Jessica so passionately talks about in the book! Her theory is that women are stronger together when we lift one another up and allow ourselves to be vulnerable without judgement. It's all about overcoming the ego, acknowledging your fears, and moving forward through the fear. She calls it "Going Scared". We never know what we can accomplish until we take the leap! It might scare the hell out of us but when we don't try, we've already failed. I am a firm believer that Imperfect Courage can make some type of impact in your life if you give it a chance. Read the book, have your friends and sisters read the book!

Then after reading the book, listen to her podcast "Going Scared". Every week Jessica interviews a guest about what its like to be an entrepreneur and how they did it going scared. If you're in love with what she does as much as I am, then you can head over to her site Noonday and purchase amazing jewelry pieces and accessories made by the women she talks about in her book. She is truly a remarkable woman!

Going Scared Podcast

In reading this book and listening to the Going Scared Podcast I have realized that I am not alone in my endeavors. I have been wanting to start a business for years and was always scared and overwhelmed by the process. With everything that I have been through in the past couple of years, I have been paralyzed by my fear and this book gave me the courage to start demobilizing myself. I am proud to announce that I am officially GOING SCARED!

More to come!

With love and courage,

Micole Elise
