Crystal of the Month: December

Hello Gem Ratz! I am bringing you some holiday cheer through the set of the month! Things have been so hectic with work and homeschooling that time has passed me by these last few weeks and left me drained and uninspired. Today, I am feeling a little more hopeful and optimistic! I wanted this month's stone to bring a winter feel since the Winter solstice is coming in a couple of days! Naturally I thought "what about the Snowflake Obsidian"? I was first drawn to this stone based on its appearance. It's black but has these really beautiful white spots that make me think of snowflakes hitting your windshield and freezing.

I know that the color black doesn't radiate holiday vibes but this has been a rough year and this stone has the ability to provide hope in dark times. It can help support you in coming to terms with a loss that's hard to accept and provide you with a healing attitude. This is how I came into possession of mine. I had a major loss in my life and while I know I will never get over it, it helped give me hope that I would at least be able to cope. Some of us have lost so much this year and are struggling to find peace and hope. That is why this stone was a perfect fit.

Finding Snowflake Obsidian

Snowflake Obsidian can be found in some crystal stores. It is not as widely popular as black obsidian. It can be found tumbled or in raw form. Commonly seen in jewelry like pendants and rings.

Care When using and cleansing snowflake obsidian, make sure you use a damp rag or run under cool running water (this is suitable for tumbled but not recommended for raw) Use a microfiber towel to shine. You may recharge this stone with black and white candles by burning a candle on either side of the stone.

That may be hard due to being quarantined for nearly a year but staying home means safety and comfort.
