Looking Good to be Bad

My first experience with Batman was not from a comic book. It was the 1989 film Batman directed by Tim Burton! I've watched every movie since and have even seen the earlier television series where Eartha Kitt played Catwoman. I am no expert on The Batman but I always thought he had the best villains. As a female I can't help but to feel empowered by the Gotham Girls over the years and they just keep getting better and sexier! Of course I am referring to the Fox Series Gotham and its latest female lineup. In the past I have always been a Catwoman type of gal (I even dressed as Catwoman for Halloween when I was kid) but if I had to choose this Halloween out of the lineup then I'm not exactly sure who I would portray. They all have their own unique style and you too can have some of their Siren looks for Halloween or just as a general wardrobe enhancement.

Selina Kyle Aka Catwoman

Selina is still a teenager in this series so she hasn't tapped into her sex appeal yet. No leather or latex catsuit with claws and cat ears. Just a realistic street style with amazing steampunk inspired goggles and a leather moto jacket. Occasionally you will see her in party dresses but only while working with Brice Wayne at special events. I love how she looks like she could be the daughter of the Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman!

Bridget Pike Aka Firefly

I don't have much background knowledge about Firefly and she doesn't make too many appearances on the series but she is still a great villain. Another homeless teenager and good friend of Selina so she doesn't really have a look until she gets her suit and flame thrower. If she had a style, I would think it would look something like the below.

Fish Mooney

Originally a male in the comics and very unappealing looking. It is nice to see how this version is the complete opposite. She is a nightclub owner so her style is what you would predict it to be but she is a boss on many levels so she always has a little edge to her look. Later in the series she gets a new eye that is blue and shaves half of her head. It's almost like you could pick 2 looks to emulate Fish!

Tabitha Galavan

One of my favorites and like Firefly, I didn't know much about her background but she is said to be the comic book version of Tigress. Tabitha is the sister of Theo Galavan but after his death, she finds her own role in Gotham and kind of gets in where she can fit in or where ever is convienient for her. In the beginning she is an all black wearing assassin but in the newest season, she has become a mentor to Selina and is credited for teaching Selina how to utilize the famous whip. My favorite looks for her usually involve all black and leather!

Barbara Kean

Former fiancee of Jim Gordon, lover to Tabitha Galavan, and later to Ra's al Ghul. She went from art gallery owner to Arkham Asylum inmate, to a club owner, to dead, to a mob boss and weapon's dealer. In the comic she is portrayed as James Gordon's wife and some have rumored her to be Harley Quinn though I don't think she is, given Harley's background. Through it all Barbara has remained stylish and is always very polished in her looks.

Ivy Pepper AKA Poison Ivy

Ivy is also a friend of Selina's and later became homeless in the series after her parents are murdered. When she comes up missing in one episode, she washes up on Gotham Banks and turns into a beautiful older, sexier version of herself due to chemicals in the water. This is when she develops a love for botany and experiments with perfume essences that can trick men into obeying her. She doesn't have a sexy corset and boots yet but she is commonly dressed in green feminine dresses and coats.

So which Gotham Girl Style suits you? Some of you may know that I love a minimalist look (maybe Barbara Kean's style) but I also love a bohemian look (Ivy Pepper's look). I also can't deny that Tabitha's all black leather style is one of my favorites either. They all have very strong personalities that come through in their styles and manage to look good just so they can be bad! I do realize some of these items shown are not cheap to acquire but this is just to give you their aesthetic and inspire you! I hope this helped!

With Love,
