5 Movies for a Halloween Party

Halloween is coming in 2 weeks and all my daughter can say is "Halloween's my Birthday"! I get this response anytime I ask her what she wants for her birthday or what costume she is going to wear. Please keep in mind that she is only turning 3 but the idea of costumes, candy, Halloween decor and movies get her super amped up. So for the next 2 weeks, she will be the main inspiration for posts and this week she is excited about seeing all the decorations around town and asking what they are. My favorites are the ones based off of movies so I thought I would share with you guys my top 5 movies that I would love to do a party on or decorate from...and yes they are cliches!
1. Hocus Pocus
This is a classic and I have watched it since I was a kid and do so every year. If I threw a Hocus Pocus party, I would have to have the items pictured below and serve witches' brew and food that resembled zombies, cats, and little children! Play "I put a spell on you" and dance with the "devil". There's been rumors of a sequel for a while now but I'm not sure they can top the original.

2. Beetle Juice
Another classic that can go really elegant or get really weird. If you decide the elegant part, then have a nice dinner party. Make a terrarium of the white house or Beetle Juice's grave and use the black and white theme for table decor. If you choose the weird part then you can really get creative with all of the memorable moments from the movie (shrunken head guy).

3. Stranger Things
Not yet a classic but very popular and easy to throw a party or decorate with. Use wall decals or cutout paper for the wall ouji board and use lots of christmas lights everywhere. Create a waffle bar for guest and hand out 11 tattoos. You could even do an upside down theme and play "Should I stay or should I go". True fans of the series will know exactly how to make things stranger for their guest or decor.

4. The Addams Family
I love the idea of doing an Addams Family theme! Everything is drab looking but has a little humor to it. I would definitely do a light hearted dinner party with rose-less stems as a center piece and martini themed drinks. You can turn your front lawn into a cemetery and have Cousin It great guest at the door.

5. Gotham Series
I chose the series over the movies because I think the Gotham series has become interesting with characters, costumes, and the setting. The Gotham Series definitely presents a more elegant backdrop but it's corrupt with craziness and you can feed into that at a dinner party. If it's a smaller guest list with other fans, then you can create place settings and assign friends to characters to dress as. You can also do a murder mystery party with this theme where the host is Detective Harvey or Gordon. Possibilities are endless with this one!

I'm pretty sure my family would love to do the Stranger Things Party! The waffle bar alone would sell them on the idea and my husband loves the series! I used movies and series that wouldn't be too scary for children but if you are doing an adult party then by all means do "The Walking Dead" or "Nightmare on Elm Street" or whatever your favorite scary movie is. I remember as a kid, my aunt and uncle took us to a venue by a lake where they told us a creepy story and then took us to their house where they set up a haunted house in the basement featuring parts of the spooky story from earlier and it was epic! What Halloween moments will you create this year?
With Love,
