Green Scene

*Disclaimer: This is very late in the year and I wasn't going to post this but I still find the color to be inspiring so why not!

If you are in any creative field or any type of designer, you may already know that Pantone Announces the new "it" color annually! The new "it" color for 2017 is GREENERY! Pantone is calling it "a symbol for new beginnings and a color thats emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality". I personally love green and implemented the color into my brand color scheme because green has always been refreshing color that never gets old. It is all around us in nature and screams life and growth. My ultimate green color however is still Emerald and I would love to incorporate the power color throughout my environment but I have a feeling that my husband may disagree on some of the implementations I would make (like an emerald green velvet sofa or dramatic velvet drapes that sweep the floor). Despite my grandious efforts, I still managed to utilize live plants to help bring green into my living scene. See below for some ways you can make an impact with green in your home!

Pantone's Color of the Year Greenery

Green Glass Vases

Add decorative elements that easily changeable should you want a new color scheme. A great example would be this smoked glass vase from Magnolia Market. A great alternatives would be a cluster of green bottles on a table in a grouping. Use recycled wine bottles, and add some candles to make it more polished and intimate.

Add an interesting element like monochromatic colored books stacked in interesting ways! Don't have time or money to search for several green books? Simply wrap the ones you have in colored paper or decorative paper! You can even write the titles on the spines in gold metallic letters!

Add some artwork and if the art seems too pricey, make your own! All you need is canvas from the craft store and paint or you could even do a creative collage with old magazines or cut up paper! If you really up the ante then find an organic looking wall paper for a statement piece in a room.

There's nothing quite like having a green plant based workspace to keep you inspired and I am sure there are plenty of health benefits in doing so (Promotion of Oxygen). Choose a light natural color desk and add in some plants or succulents to keep it clean and airy looking!

I love how this is a clean functional space that already embraces some of the ideas previously discussed above. My new favorite element in this setting is by far the large knit floor mats which would be perfect for a lounge night or for kids who love sitting on the floor! Just keep it neutral with light colored wood and and greys with matte black touches!

Pick one piece of furniture in the room to use as a highlighter for the color. Even if it is just a dresser or chair, it will make a large impact. You can see in the photos above that the designers kept the rest of the furniture and accent pieces black, white, or gold. This helps to not overwhelm the environment.

Even though this all about green, you can still use these same concepts for any color. Navy, Fuchsia, Golden yellow, the possibilities are endless. You can have a house that has a different color scheme for each room or a neutral home with little hints of the same color throughout. Make it yours!

With Love,
